SACRAMENTO VALLEY STATION

Station Master Plan

AIM is currently serving as the public outreach and engagement consultant for the City of Sacramento’s Sacramento Valley Station Master Plan. The goal of the master plan is to develop conceptual alternatives that set the stage for an expanded regional transportation hub that integrates transit-oriented development and catalyzes a sustainable downtown Sacramento community.

Located in between the Sacramento Railyards and downtown Sacramento, the Sacramento Valley Station is the primary rail station in Northern California and the seventh largest station in the country. AIM developed and is implementing a comprehensive public outreach plan to engage key stakeholders, the community, and transit riders throughout the planning process.

AIM planned and facilitated a series of stakeholder focus group meetings to provide an overview of the master plan’s vision, review existing conditions at the station, identify opportunities and challenges, and receive feedback on developed concept scenarios for the station. AIM also coordinated and facilitated two pop-up workshops at the existing Sacramento Valley Station to engage transit users and the community. Utilizing an interactive online engagement tool and informational videos, AIM more easily shared the project narrative and provided the community with opportunities to provide feedback on existing conditions at the station and conceptual alternatives for the station area. By partnering with the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority, San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission, property and businesses improvement districts, and community-based organizations, AIM is reaching a broader audience to encourage participation in the outreach process. Additionally, AIM assists with media relations and developing content for the project webpage and the City’s social media accounts, including the creation of a historical station video.
